Public transport capacity will increase to 75% on Monday 19th July 2021

Published on Friday, July 16, 2021

From 19 July, capacity on public transport will increase from 50% of normal capacity to 75% under new measures announced by the Government as part of the recovery phase of the response to the pandemic and reopening society. This means that more seats and standing room will be available for customers on-board.

As more people return to travelling on Dublin Bus services, we want to ensure your journey is safe and comfortable. Since the onset of Covid-19, we have introduced a number of additional health and safety measures and we will continue to do so for as long as necessary.

What we are doing

  • We have implemented an enhanced daily cleaning regime which includes the sanitising of frequently touched surfaces on board.
  • We have extended our cleaning regime to include inter-peak cleaning at depots and termini points throughout the city. This will ensure that buses are cleaned during the day and every night.
  • Hand sanitiser units have been installed onboard. The units are located in the lower saloon. We ask customers to please use hand sanitiser after boarding.
  • Window stickers have been fitted onboard, reminding customers to keep windows up for ventilation.

How you can help

  • We remind customers that wearing a face covering is mandatory on public transport.
  • Please use hand sanitiser after boarding.
  • Give priority to people with a disability, older people or a pregnant person for seating downstairs when travelling on the bus.
  • Exit through the centre doors when possible.
  • Leave windows open for ventilation.
  • Carefully follow the guidelines set out by the Government and the Department of Health while travelling on our services.
