Olympic Torch Ceremony

On Wednesday 6th June 2012 Dublin will become the only region outside of Greece and the UK to host the Olympic Flame. More than 40 torch bearers will carry the Olympic flame through the streets of Dublin.

The relay will start at 09:10hrs on Wednesday 6th June 2012 at Croke Park and is due to end at 12.30hrs approx.

There will be no diversions to bus services, however please expect some delays while the relay makes its way through Dublin City and suburbs. The relay will commence from Croke Park at 9.10hrs making its way down to the North Circular Road before reaching Mountjoy Square, Gardiner Street, Grenville Lane, Parnell Square East and to The Garden of Remembrance. The relay will then travel down O’Connell Street passing Cathal Brugha Street and Malborough Street before proceeding up Eden Quay towards Custom House and Sherriff Street.

 At 10:30hrs The Olympic Torch Relay will pass over The Samuel Beckett Bridge past The Bord Gais Energy Theatre and down Pearse Street. The Torch will then make its way to the South of the City passing through areas such as Merrion Square, Baggot Street, Fitzwilliam Square, Leeson Street, Grand Parade, Rathmines and The South Circular Road.
