Changes to Routes 45, 45a, 84 and 84x

Published on Friday, May 18, 2012

Following the success of network changes introduced in 2010 in the Bray/North Wicklow area, Dublin Bus wishes to advise customers of the following changes to Routes 45, 45a, 84 and 84x from Sunday 27th May.

Key improvements include:

  1. 33% increase in trips on route 84x
  2. Increased evening peak capacity on route 84x
  3. 10% increase in route 84 trips between Newcastle/Kilcoole and Bray Rail Station
  4. More school friendly service on route 84, integrating better with class times
  5. Improved frequency of service on Boghall Road and Wolfe Tone to Bray Rail Station
  6. 30 minute morning and evening peak connections from Bray to Luas at Cherrywood

Route 84 and 45 will be amalgamated and operate as route 84. The revised service will operate from Newcastle to Blackrock Village via Kilcoole, Greystones, Vevay Road, Bray Rail Station, Shankill, Cherrywood (Luas), Cornelscourt, Clonkeen Road and Deans Grange. The revised timetable will provide a 10% increase in services between Bray, Greystones, Kilcoole & Newcastle.

Route 84a will operate between Bray Rail Station and Blackrock Village via Shankill, Cherrywood (Luas), Cornelscourt, Clonkeen Road and Deans Grange. The timetables on Route 84 & 84a will be integrated between Bray and Blackrock, operating every 30 minutes during peak times (combined timetables).

Route 84x will benefit from a 33% increase in departures. Additional capacity will be provided for on all outbound departures on Route 84x as a result of additional journeys plus adjustments to city centre stopping locations. These changes will significantly enhance the service offering on route 84x.

Please note that route 84x will no longer stop at D’Olier Street or Nassau Street. Route 84x will instead stop at Trinity College Gates (stop NA). All other stops remain as present.

Route 45a will operate from Ballywaltrim to Dun Laoghaire via Boghall Road (Oldcourt), Wolfe Tone, Vevay Road, Bray Rail Station, Shankill, Churchview Road, Rochestown Avenue, Sallynoggin Road and Glenageary. This will provide increased levels of service in the Boghall Road and Wolfe Tone area.

These changes are part of Network Direct, a redesign of bus services in Dublin City to provide a more direct, high frequency and punctual service.

Thank you for travelling with Dublin Bus.
