How it works

If you are an adult and you take multiple daily bus journeys that total more than €6.90, you can travel for free for the rest of the day! And if you reach the weekly cap of €27.50 between Monday and Sunday, then you could potentially travel for free for the rest of the week or weekend up to Sunday night.

For Students, the daily cap is €5.00 and weekly cap is €20.00. For children under 19, the daily cap is €2.50 and the weekly cap is €8.20.

Note: When the cap is reached you should continue to Touch On as normal to have a valid ticket.

Less than €5.20 daily spend

Unfortunately you won’t reach the cap unless you take additional journeys, the daily Leap Card cap is €6.90 and the weekly cap (Monday – Sunday) is €27.50.

€5.20 daily spend

If you spend this amount every day Monday to Friday, your weekly Leap Fare is €26.00. If you spend another €1.50 you will reach the weekly Leap Card cap of €27.50 for Dublin Bus and you could travel free over the weekend until midnight on Sunday.

€5.70 daily spend

If you spend this amount every day Monday to Friday, your weekly Leap Fare is €28.50. This means you hit the weekly Leap Card cap of €27.50 for Dublin Bus, and receive €1.00 free travel. You can travel free over the weekend until midnight on Sunday!

More than €6.90 daily spend

If you spend this amount or more every day your travel is free once you hit the €6.90 Leap Card cap. In addition, if you spend this amount every day Monday to Thursday, you can travel for free on Friday and until midnight on Sunday!

If you spend this amount every day Monday to Friday, your weekly Leap Fare is €20.50. This means you hit the weekly Student Leap Card cap of €20.00 for Dublin Bus, and receive €0.50 free travel. You can travel free over the weekend until midnight on Sunday!

More than €5.00 daily spend

If you spend this amount or more every day your travel is free once you hit the €5.00 Leap Card cap. In addition, if you spend this amount every day Monday to Thursday, you can travel for free on Friday and until midnight on Sunday!

If you spend this amount every day Monday to Friday, your weekly Leap Fare is €7.70. If you spend another €0.50 you will reach the weekly Child Leap Card cap of €8.20 for Dublin Bus and you could travel free over the weekend until midnight on Sunday.

€2.20 daily spend

If you spend this amount every day Monday to Friday, you hit the weekly Child Leap Card cap of €8.20 for Dublin Bus, and receive €2.80 free travel. In addition, you can travel for free on Friday and until midnight on Sunday!

More than €2.50 daily spend

If you spend this amount or more every day your travel is free once you hit the €2.50 daily Child Leap Card cap. In addition, if you spend this amount every day Monday to Thursday, you can travel for free on Friday and until midnight on Sunday!
