Travel further for less – With ‘Leap 90 Discount’, if you take two or more buses to reach your destination, Leap 90 Discount will automatically refund up to €1.00 (€0.75 child fare) to your Leap Card Travel Credit from the second, third or subsequent fares paid.

Your next journey must begin within 90 minutes of the previous journey. If you are paying the City Centre fare, the full €0.55 fare will be refunded to your Leap Card.

Trouble Free – Your Leap Card will always select the best value fare option from your Travel Credit, e.g. individual fare, capping or Leap 90 Discount, so you don’t need to do anything - the card will work it out for you.

Leap 90 Discount does not apply to Airlink, Nitelink and Tour services and only applies to fares paid by the card holder and not a travelling companion.

Getting started with Dublin Bus & Leap Card

Leap Card can be used on all Dublin Bus services, including Airlink, Xpresso and Nitelink.

1. Purchase a Leap Card here or at any Payzone outlet.

2. A fully refundable deposit of €5 is charged for your card and you must also top-up with a minimum of €5 Travel Credit.

3. Register your Leap Card here to protect against loss or theft. It is important to report any lost or stolen cards as soon as possible to ensure you can be fully refunded. A replacement Leap Card will be posted to you within 5 working days with any days of travel and/or Travel Credit left on your card.

4. You can use both Travel Credit and ticket products on your Leap Card and use either to pay for your bus journey.

5. Topping up your Travel Credit on your Leap Card is easy.  You top up and then the cost of your fare is deducted from your balance every time you travel.  You can top up at any Payzone agent  or purchase online.  Topups purchased online must be collected at your local Payzone agent.

Using a Leap Card
Leap Card is almost 20% cheaper than paying with cash.  You can pay either the Flat Fare (over 13 stages marked in blue below) by touching your Leap Card against the validator for at least a second or until you hear the beep.

Capping
Dublin Bus only and Multi Operator Daily and Weekly capping are now available on the Leap Card.
● Weekly capping runs from Monday to Sunday.
● Multi Operator capping operates on Dublin Bus, DART / Commuter Rail services and Luas.

The cap ensures that you will not spend more than the cap level applicable to your Leap Card. You can either pay at the Drivers ticket machine or Touch On at the remote Smartcard reader. When the cap is reached you should continue to Touch On at the remote Smartcard reader on your right hand side as you enter the bus.

Any fares paid for a travelling companion do not count towards the cap. Fares paid on Airlink and Tours do not count towards the cap.
