Dublin Bus is working with Dublin’s Transport Operators and the RPA to have a fully integrated ticketing scheme with a single card available for use on all Public Transport Services.
As part of this scheme Dublin Bus has installed new Smartcard readers on all buses in our fleet. The Smartcard reader is located to the right at the entrance door of the bus, just above the Magnetic ticket reader.
How does the Smartcard reader work?
All Smartcards with the smartcard ticket symbol seen below must be validated on the Smartcard reader.
You must validate your Smartcard by holding the Smartcard on the reader target for at least a second or until a light appears.
The new Smartcard reader will not print validity dates on the Smartcard however the reader will display details of journeys or days of travel left each time you validate the Smartcard. On monthly and annual tickets the card expiry date will be displayed on the screen of the Smartcard reader.
• Hold Smartcard against the target for at least a second.
• The Smartcard reader can only read one Smartcard at any one time.
