Director of Risk Management

Location: Dublin


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Develop and manage a Business Unit Plan that aligns with the Corporate Strategy, translating it into actionable plans for daily operations and services to ensure alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of risk management policies, frameworks, and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of comprehensive risk management strategies aligned with the organisation's overarching goals and objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in risk management frameworks to address evolving threats and vulnerabilities. Implement proactive risk mitigation strategies and controls to minimise their impact on the organisation.
  • Present comprehensive risk reports, including key findings, trends, and recommendations, to facilitate informed decision-making and risk management enhancements. Provide regular updates and reports to Executive Team and the Board of Directors.
  • Champion a customer-centric approach, with an unwavering commitment to not only meeting but surpassing the expectations of Dublin Bus customers, consistently striving for a best-in-class experience.

Applications are invited from candidates who have:

  • Minimum 8-years’ experience in senior leadership roles with a focus on risk management, preferably within the transportation sector or industries with high-risk profiles.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field with a strong emphasis on risk assessment, analysis, and management principles.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to risk management, with the ability to ensure organisational compliance and adherence to legal obligations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to work outside standard office hours as required.
